WHAT IS CPR?
CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is a set of lifesaving skills you begin to perform for a victim who is unresponsive. CPR helps keep blood and oxygen flowing to the brain and heart and buys time until you can use an AED or until professional rescuers arrive.
When do I receive my CPR or First Aid card?
You will receive your American Heart card at the end of the training.
How long is the Card good for?
All CPR and First Aid or Health Care Provider course cards are good for 2 years.
What should I wear?
Because the courses involve hands-on practice, wear something comfortable that gives you ease of movement.
Will there be a test?
There is no longer a written test for the layperson, but there is a skills evaluation. For the Healthcare Provider there is a test and a skills check.
How do I pay for the class?
You can pay by cash, by check (with valid Texas driver’s license), or you can pay with credit card.
What if I have to cancel a class?
Let us know as soon as possible, we would appreciate a 24 hour minimum notice.
Would ABCT come to my location for a class?
Yes either for an individual or a group. There is a small travel charge.
Do I share a manikin with someone else?
In most cases, you will have your own manikin.
What if I lose my CPR card?
No problem. Call us and we will happy to issue you a duplicate card. Please give date or month of the class you took. There is a $5.00 replacement fee.
Is CPR difficult to learn?
The CPR & First Aid classes consist of knowledge and skills, both of which can be learned through attentive listening and practicing along with the DVD presentation. Our professional instructors will work with you individually if needed.
What if I haven’t taken CPR before?
No prior knowledge is required to take any of these classes.
What if I feel like I need a refresher course?
Any participant that has been certified with ABCT in the past two years can audit a scheduled training at no extra charge.
If you come to my place, do I need to provide anything?
Yes, if possible a TV/DVD is needed for the instruction. If you are unable to provide this equipment please let us know in advance. There will be a $5 equipment rental charge.
